College Australia are committed to the principles of RPL , which are defined as; "An assessment process to assess and individual's non-formal and information learning to determine the extent to which that individual has achieved the required learning outcomes, competency outcomes, or standards for entry to, and/or practical or total completion of a qualification" AQTF 2007 User Guide to the Essential Standards of registration We frimly believe that no client should be required to undertake learning for skills in which they are already able to demonstrate satisfactory performance. This RPL kit is designed to assist you gain Recognition of Prior Learning for any previous learning or skills gained through work and life experiences which may apply to your current studies. It should be noted that College Australia can only consider RPL fro those competencies/ qualifications for which it is registered to deliver. What is RPL? RPL is a method of assessing relevant competencies gained by clients through work and life experiences that can then be counted towards a qualification. RPL is concerned with identifying and assessing the substance and currency of the competencies (skills, knowledge, attitudes, attributes), rather than when, where, how or why the learning wsa acquired. RPL acknowledges the importance of non-formal, workplace and other experiential learning and seeks to match this acquuired learning to the formal requirements of the relevant National Training Package (e.g. BSB51107 Diploma of Management). RPL provides a mechanism through which non-qualified but skilled clients can have their competencies recognised. Preparing Evidence for Recognition of Prior Learning When submitting your evidence for RPL, it is necessary to do so against the relevant benchmarks. As an example the benchmarks are the Competency Standards from BSB51107 Diploma of Management from the BSB07 Business Services Training Package. Yur evidence submitted needs to meet the priciples of evidence:
What we will look for in your application It is our duty to assess whether or not the evidence supplied is sufficient for your to be granted competency (RPL) in the unit/s you have applied for. Usually this means addressing each of the competency elements and performance criteria for each unit of competency for which you wish to gain Recognition of Prior Learning. Some of the evidence you migh supply may include:
Authenticity The Assessor will need to be assured of the authenticity of all documentiaon submitted - that it is indeed written or produced by you. Standard The Assessor will ensure theat the standars determined by the course competencies are met and the documentation provided by you is appropriate. When seeking RPL you are not expected to meet higher standards than that required of an enrolled student, those not meeting these standars will not be given credit.
